Luis Enrique, coach of Paris Saint-Germain (1st), held a press conference this Friday ahead of facing Nice (15th) at the Allianz Riviera tomorrow (kick-off at 9:05pm, CET) as part of the 27th matchday of Ligue 1 2025-2026. On the sidelines of this event, the Spaniard also spoke to PSG TV.
Luis Enrique: “We’re happy, but we want much, much more.”
What are your thoughts on qualifying for the Champions League quarter-finals?
What a joy! Seeing the team perform like this again, the connection with the fans… We want to keep experiencing this. It’s been a special year, but we can really see that we have the level for any opponent, any stadium, any match. We’re happy, but we want much, much more.
Luis Enrique: “This is a key moment in the competition; we’re used to experiencing these moments.”
The quarter-final against Liverpool?
We’re used to playing against the best teams. That’s been our path last year and this year. Playing against a team like Liverpool is special; it’s different. There are only eight teams left. This is our competition; we’re the current champions. That’s a very clear motivation. We want to keep improving and winning.
It will be very difficult against this team. I remember last season, Arne Slot spoke very positively about us when we were struggling. That really struck me. He was absolutely right. It’s a crucial moment in the competition; we’re used to experiencing these moments.
Luis Enrique: “You have to earn the right to win.”
Do we need to be vigilant for the trip to Nice tomorrow?
We always have problems against Nice. When you play away, it’s always very difficult. I can only remember two or three easy away games in the last three years. There are difficulties, we all want to share this together and win the three points. We have to earn the right to win. To do that, we have to play a good match. That’s what I expect tomorrow.
The fans?
When you feel that pride, it’s lovely to go for walks, everyone says thank you. It’s a real pleasure.
