Lieke Martens, the 32-year-old striker who joined Paris Saint-Germain from FC Barcelona in 2022, had reached the end of her contract this summer. A choice therefore had to be made for her future, and PSG issued a statement on Monday to make her departure official, without forgetting to thank her.

Martens leaves PSG after some fine performances, but also, unfortunately, no title to her name. She has been through a turbulent period in the women’s section, which doesn’t help her to put in one great performance after another and make her mark on the world. However, there were some positive aspects, including a high level of professionalism and some fine goals. We wish her all the best for the future.
