Luis Enrique, coach of Paris Saint-Germain (1st), held a press conference this Saturday ahead of facing Paris FC (11th) at the Stade Jean Bouin tomorrow (kick-off at 9pm, CET) as part of the 34th matchday of Ligue 1 2025-2026. Alongside this event, the Spaniard also spoke to PSG TV.

Lens was a tough opponent all season? How did you experience Wednesday’s match?

We experienced it as usual. I don’t remember any easy away matches. It’s hard to put into words, but it’s true. We have a lot of matches, but they’ve been hard-fought, requiring resilience. We’ve had to overcome difficult situations. Like the match in Munich, we’re not used to defending so much.

Against Lens, we did something similar; in difficult moments, you have to defend well. Then, we have space for counter-attacks. It’s a match that showed the level of each team, with a bit of luck for us. They deserved better in this match. But we won the title with great merit.

Luis Enrique: “It’s a pleasure to see these players, how they conduct themselves and strive to work.”

What did you enjoy most about the season?

This season was very unusual. Last year, after winning the Champions League, we couldn’t have a big celebration or vacation. We had to get back to work for the Club World Cup. We’d like to have more time this time, but there’s the World Cup. But that’s the way the schedule is. The most motivating thing for me is showing that in this unusual year, we’ve displayed the same spirit, the same mentality, regardless of the opponent. We always have the same ability to prepare.

This shows the level of each player. I’m very happy. We talked in training about the things we’ve improved individually, especially in training. It’s a pleasure to see these players, how they conduct themselves and strive to work.

Luis Enrique: “It’s the last match, there’s nothing left to play for, but we’re champions and we have to win.”

A great celebration against PFC, with respect for the opponent?

It’s the last match, there’s nothing left to play for, but we’re champions and we have to win. It’ll be against a great PFC, right next to the stadium. We’re happy to be playing at home, even if it’s an away game. There won’t be any travel. We can celebrate. The best way to prepare for the Champions League final is to perform well. We’ll be looking to see the team with the same ambition as usual.

Have the players learned French well?

All the players who arrived recently speak it easily, yes, they’re intelligent! (smiles).
