Paris Saint-Germain beat Bayern Munich 2-0 (video highlights PSG/Bayern Munich) this Saturday at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium in the quarter-finals of the 2025 Club World Cup. After the match, Paris defender and captain Marquinhos (31) spoke to DAZN.
Marquinhos “It’s really important for us.”
Is this a win that counts?
It’s really important for us even if it was very difficult, we really wanted to win this match. We had something to settle with them too. That final is still on our minds.
The last game against a game we lost too. It’s good to show that we’re in a different place today and to win. It’s a competition we really want to win.
Marquinhos: “That’s the team’s mentality and that’s what the coach has worked hard on.”
Is it good to win with 9 against 11, or do you think we’re going to have to make some adjustments to avoid ending up in this situation?
Red cards are always little mistakes that we have to sort out. It’s the details of the match that really make a difference, because one player more and one day less changes a lot of things.
When we picked up the red cards, I saw my team-mates saying that we were going to defend right to the end, and that’s when I was sure we’d won the match. We had a great attitude even with 10 men, even with 9, we kept playing and we managed to score a second goal.
That’s the mentality of the team and that’s what the coach has worked hard on. The team is ready for anything, and even with 10 players, 9 players, we’re ready to suffer to counter them and hurt our opponents. We’re going to play with our weapons, and that’s why we’re where we are today.
