Marquinhos, 31-year-old defender and captain of Paris Saint-Germain, spoke to M6 after the 5-0 victory over Inter Milan (video highlights PSG/Inter Milan) this Saturday at the Allianz Arena in the final of the Champions League 2024-2025. He showed a lot of emotion.
Exceptional emotions?
Yes, it’s a mixture of joy and all the emotions we’ve experienced together. I suffered with this team, I grew up with this team. I think of all the great players who have been here and who didn’t make it. Like my idol, Thiago Silva. The likes of Lucas, Cavani, Zlatan and Di Maria. They deserved it too, but they didn’t make it. Today, we succeeded. I’m thinking of them, of our supporters here, at the Parc, around the world. Enjoy!
Is this the best PSG title ever? You said you wanted to stay, is this the happiest day of your sporting life?
(crying) Of course! It’s the happiest day, the greatest joy. My family are here, they’ve been through this with me. It was a great goal. When we arrived here, no one thought we could go this far. It’s been 12 years, we’ve had our difficulties, we’ve suffered, but I value this title. It’s ours, we’re bringing it back, I’m very happy!
