On Wednesday, Paris Saint-Germain took on Liverpool at the Parc de Princes in the second leg of the Champions League Round of 8, 2024-2025. Jamie Carragher, the English team’s legendary former defender (1996-2013), spoke to CBS Sports Golazo after the Reds’ 0-1 victory (video highlights PSG/Liverpool, return Tuesday March 11). He made no secret of the fact that it was a “robbery” if you look at the content.

Carragher “I can’t believe my eyes.”
“I can’t believe my eyes, PSG were breathtaking, they walked all over Liverpool. The last time Liverpool won the Champions League (in 2019), Alisson made a save against Napoli in the group stage (1-0, December 11, 2018).
Liverpool would have been eliminated without it. Tonight it wasn’t just a save, it was probably the greatest performance of his career… It’s one of the greatest saves in the history of soccer.”
The words are clear-cut and all the stronger for coming from a Liverpool legend. There’s no denying it, any Reds fan will tell you: the team was largely dominated by PSG. Coach Arne Slot was equally quick to point this out.
It’s great to have a team with such a strong collective. It gives us great hope for the future. However, we also need to win “stupidly” and therefore score more goals. We’ll need to be more efficient in our finishing, even if Alisson’s immense performance is obviously to be commended. There will be other great goalkeepers to face, and we have to be ready to beat them to win the Champions League.
Let’s hope Paris can be just as strong in terms of content, as there’s no room for complacency against Liverpool, especially at Anfield. We saw at the end of the match that you only have to go a little bit beyond excellence to be in trouble. At least, we have the feeling that PSG is ready.
