Achraf Hakimi, 26-year-old right-sided piston of Paris Saint-Germain, stopped by the mixed zone after the 0-1 defeat to Liverpool (video highlights PSG/Liverpool, return Tuesday March 11) this Wednesday at the Parc des Princes as part of the Champions League 2024-2025 Round of 8. He spoke of a very frustrating result and the hope of qualification at Anfield.

💭 «  Liverpool a joué le match nul. Il n’y aura pas 2 matchs comme ça. On va à Anfield pour gagner surtout si on joue comme ça. On va relever la tête. »

Hakimi “If we bring the same personality and the same dynamic, we’re sure to go through to the next round.”

How did you feel after the defeat?

We’re frustrated to lose the game like that. It happened before against Atlético Madrid too, a match in which we created a lot of chances but the opposition stopped everything and then created a chance and scored. It hurts to end the game like that.

We’re happy with the work, the effort and the desire of the whole team and we’re ready to go to Liverpool to take the victory we deserve.

What makes you hope for qualification?

After today’s game, with the team’s desire and personality, the team’s domination, the chances created… No two games are like that. If we keep the same personality and the same momentum, we’ll definitely go through to the next round.

What’s your opinion on Liverpool’s level of play, as they made sure they stalled from the start of the match?

I think Liverpool know our quality, our team. They’ve shown us a lot of respect. They also know the atmosphere at the Parc des Princes. I think Liverpool wanted to win the result to finish at home. They didn’t want to attack as usual. But they had a chance and they scored, and we’re not happy about that.

We’re going to go over there and try to win the game.

What did the players say?

We’re happy, but we’ve got to keep our heads up. There’s still a week to get ready.
