A Paris Saint-Germain player from 2008 to 2013, Guillaume Hoarau remains a fervent supporter of the Rouge et Bleu. Speaking to RMC Sport, he discussed the Parisian club’s latest results, as well as Wednesday’s Champions League Round of 8 first leg against Liverpool at the Parc des Princes.
Hoarau “You don’t feel tired when you win and string together this kind of performance”
“When you win, when you string matches like that together with so much quality and confidence, you’re so excited. Right now, the guys are in a hurry to play. You don’t feel tired when you’re winning and putting in that kind of performance. I’d like to say that I’m convinced they’re happy to be playing Liverpool.
I think PSG are favourites. They’ve done everything to prepare for this match as well as possible. I’d say watch out for disillusionment, but to really beat PSG, Liverpool have to rise above them collectively and individually. Individually, I think PSG have the weapons to respond one-on-one. Collectively, for me, Paris is better.”
The double-header against Liverpool will be a huge test for PSG. Although they are currently one of the most in-form teams, facing an opponent of Liverpool’s calibre is still a tall order. There was certainly the magnificent victory over Manchester City (4-2), but against Liverpool, PSG will be facing an opponent as in-form as themselves.
The first leg will be very important, especially at the Parc des Princes. Even if the club doesn’t get the chance to host the second leg, it will have to give 200%, whatever the conditions. Today, the entire PSG fan base believes in the club’s chances in this double-header, and it’s this federation that can help the Parisian team achieve its goal.
