Marquinhos, the Paris Saint-Germain center-back and captain, spoke to UOL Esporte on the sidelines of the Brazilian national team’s training camp for the March international break. He notably discussed his future, given that his contract with PSG expires in 2028.
“I still have two years left on my contract with PSG, and then we’ll see. I’d like to return to Brazil. And in Brazil, there’s a lot of pressure, especially at the team I’d like to return to, which is Corinthians. It’s the club that opened doors for me, where it all began. I’m very attached to it, and I would be delighted to wear that jersey again.”
There’s no question of rushing to leave PSG, even though he has already mentioned the possibility of finishing his career there. It could, however, be the end of his journey at the highest European level before returning to Brazil. A perfectly plausible scenario, given Marquinhos’ continued strong ties to Corinthians. Perhaps there are other possibilities, depending on the discussions.
It’s still a long way off; the Parisian captain isn’t opening the door to a departure before 2028 and the end of his contract. We don’t know to what extent an extension might be conceivable. For the moment, in any case, there’s nothing concrete suggesting a departure.
