Paris Saint-Germain beat Monaco 4-1 (PSG/Monaco video highlights) this Friday at the Parc des Princes on Matchday 21 of Ligue 1 2024-2025. After the match, Paris coach Luis Enrique spoke to DAZN. The Spaniard spoke about his contract extension, his team’s victory, the goal scored by 23-year-old striker Khvicha Kvaratkshelia and Tuesday’s Champions League play-off first leg against Brest.

Luis Enrique “something had to change.”

A win, extra time, the perfect evening?

Without a doubt, it was a great evening.

Did you ask your players to change tactics and step on the gas in the second half?

The first half was a bit unusual, so we had to change something. We did some good things, we pressed well, and in the second half we were better in space and without the ball too. The goals also made a big difference. I wish Monaco all the best for the Champions League.

Luis Enrique “He has enormous qualities, we knew that.”

A fine goal from Kvaratskhelia?

It’s beautiful when you have a player like him. He has enormous qualities, we knew that, we were sure of that. It’s important to make him feel that this is a good moment. We saw that he was in this team and that he had quality. As a reminder, it’s all about progressing as a team, moving forward together, and we’ve got a great team.

Now it’s on to the Champions League?

Against Brest, a knockout match. It’s going to be tough, that’s for sure. We hope to be able to compete at our best in this competition.
