Paris Saint-Germain went before the Ligue de Football Professionnelle’s disciplinary board after the match at the Parc des Princes against Olympique de Marseille. The use of pyrotechnic devices (prohibited), banners and insults resulted in the partial closure of the Auteuil stand for one match. This takes effect on April 8, 2025 at midnight.
“McDonald’s Ligue 1 Matchday 26: Paris Saint-Germain – Olympique de Marseille Sunday, March 16, 2025
Behavior of Paris Saint-Germain supporters: use of pyrotechnic devices and verbal/visual expressions observed.
Partial closure of the Parc des Princes Auteuil stand for one match.
The sanction takes effect from Tuesday April 8, 2025 at 00:00 a.m.”
The sanction, quite logical, was expected. It has to be said that the match against Marseille attracted a great deal of media attention, and that the League could not let anything pass after the noise caused by the banners and insults in the media and among politicians. However, if the sanction is fair, we really need to see the same reactions at every other match.
In fact, at every Ligue 1 match in particular, but also in the Coupe de France (Cf Dunkerque/PSG), we see insults in the stands, words prohibited at the Parc des Princes, but “accepted” elsewhere. It’s time to stop making PSG an example and a special case, when almost all the stands act in the same way.
