Désiré Doué, the 20-year-old Paris Saint-Germain midfielder/forward, spoke to reporters in the mixed zone during PSG’s Media Day. He discussed his return from injury, which is taking shape, as well as his hunger for the future and his 2025 Golden Boy award.
Doué: “Things are progressing well, so I’m very happy.”
How are you feeling?
I feel good, I feel very good. I’ve worked well with the medical staff, and today I have no pain. Things are progressing well, so I’m very happy.
Is it also a learning experience?
Yes, that’s it. These are times when you learn. You also learn to be patient. Everything happens very quickly, and the times when you’re away from the pitch are never easy. Today, I’m feeling better, and it was very important for me to come back strong.
Doué: “I only have one desire, and that’s to play.” “
Does it also allow you to take a breather?
We all need to take a breather; injuries happen partly because of that, because of the constant stream of matches. Our bodies might be tired. But right now, all I want is to play. So, no matter how many matches I play, I’m going to play.
Is it hard being on the sidelines?
We always want to play, to help the team. When I’m in the stands, I want to share those moments with them on the pitch. It’s part of football; there are wins and losses. The most important thing is to keep working to achieve what we want.
“Doué is the result of the collective work last season.”
What needs to be improved in the team?
We have to keep going; there are still aspects we need to improve on. We’re going to achieve what we want to achieve.”
The Golden Boy?
I’ve been called that a lot these past few days, it’s nice. But it’s the result of last season’s collective work. If we hadn’t won all those trophies, if we hadn’t won the Champions League, I certainly wouldn’t have this individual award.
A preference for the 2026 World Cup draw?
It’s something I dream about, I hope to play in it in 2026. It’s magnificent. But I don’t have a preference for the draw.
The tough fight in Ligue 1?
All the teams are improving. In Ligue 1, there are bound to be good players, high-quality teams. But that’s good, it creates competition. It’s up to us to do better and go for first place as soon as possible.
