Achraf Hakimi, the 27-year-old right-back for Paris Saint-Germain, suffered a nasty ankle injury during Wednesday’s 2-1 defeat against Bayern Munich in the Champions League. The nature and duration of the injury were then awaited. AS has more worrying information than L’Equipe or Le Parisien, which initially reported a four- to six-week absence.

“According to AS, the PSG full-back has suffered a tear of the femoral syndesmosis with slight damage to the deltoid muscle. He will therefore have to keep the joint immobilized for two weeks, then be unavailable for another six to eight weeks until he fully recovers.”

We remain cautious until an official statement is released. We’ve seen the media misjudge the length of absences before, and now we have quite different reports and a wide range. This could stem from the tests he underwent on Wednesday. We hope PSG will clarify the situation soon. If possible, with something positive. Except that it’s difficult to be optimistic.
