Back from their international break, Paris Saint-Germain took on Toulouse FC (3-0) at the Parc des Princeson Friday to open the 12th day of Ligue 1. Speaking to PSGTV on the sidelines of the match, Paris coach Luis Enrique spoke of his players’ performance.
Enrique: “I think we’ve achieved everything we set out to do”.
“It was important to win the match. It’s important that the players who had less playing time were able to play, and they did that well. It’s important to give rest to players who have travelled and played for the national team, and I think these objectives have been achieved. It was a tough match, but Toulouse played a good game.
They’re a hard-working team. Carlos, the coach, knows how to create problems for us, the three matches last season were difficult, and this season again. Toulouse didn’t create many chances, but today we were good at finishing. I’m happy, I think we’ve achieved all the objectives we set ourselves this evening.“
Back from the international break, PSG needed to get back into the swing of things against Toulouse to be ready for the next round of fixtures. They did just that with a fine, controlled 3-0 victory. The club from La Capitale showed no fear during the match, and generally mastered their game.
The team broke the deadlock at the end of the second half to secure victory and look forward to the Champions League. At times like these, the most important thing is to avoid injuries. Luis Enrique needs all the players he can get, and if some are about to make their comeback, it’s important not to let others go the other way.
It was therefore a fine, reassuring success ahead of a vital trip to Bavaria to take on Bayern Munich on Tuesday in a Champions League match that promises to be a turning point for the Parisians in this competition.
