Eric Garcia, the 24-year-old Spanish defender for FC Barcelona (whose contract expires in the summer of 2026), has been linked with Paris Saint-Germain during the transfer window. Mundo Deportivo, however, claims that a contract extension is on the cards.
“Eric Garcia is in negotiations to extend his contract and wants to stay at Barça. Deco has already spoken several times with Garcia’s agent to offer him a long-term deal, and both parties hope these discussions will lead to a new agreement.”
This isn’t surprising; it would be strange for Barça to easily let go of an important player. We’re still being cautious, though; nothing is certain yet. But we wouldn’t be surprised by an extension, perhaps with an attempt from PSG. Or simply a bit of pressure. In any case, signing in Paris is a long way off today.
