This is the next chapter in the PSG transfer saga: a round-up of the latest news from the past 24 hours (published earlier this evening) to take stock of what is happening — or not happening — in the market. Today’s focus: Renato Sanches, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Randal Kolo Muani, and Arnau Tenas.
Official:
Renato Sanches loaned to Panathinaikos.
The 28-year-old midfielder, under contract with PSG until 2027, has joined Panathinaikos on loan for the season, without a purchase option. The deal was officially announced this Sunday.
Opinion on the transfer:
It’s hard to imagine a better solution for Sanches — a very talented player, but one who is constantly sidelined by injuries. This will be his third loan in a row after Roma and Benfica. There is always hope that this could finally be the right season, although fears of another physical setback for the Portuguese remain strong.
Transfers potentially close to completion:
None at the moment.
Possible departures:
- Gianluigi Donnarumma to Manchester City.
The 26-year-old goalkeeper, who has only one year left on his PSG contract, has been asked to leave and has already been replaced by Lucas Chevalier (23). Manchester City is the most likely destination. However, the deal depends on Ederson (31) leaving and an agreement with PSG. Both are plausible, but nothing appears imminent. Time is running out, as the transfer window closes on September 1 at 8 p.m. - Randal Kolo Muani.
The 26-year-old forward has returned from a successful loan at Juventus, and many expected him to leave quickly. Negotiations over a loan with an obligation to buy remain stalled. In recent hours, there has even been talk of a different destination for the PSG striker and another attacking signing for the Italian club. - Arnau Tenas to Villarreal.
The 24-year-old goalkeeper also looks set to depart, with reports suggesting an agreement with Villarreal. Nothing has been confirmed yet, but the move appears credible: a promising step toward an ambitious La Liga side that will also compete in the Champions League. For now, though, things remain a little unclear.
