Gianluigi Donnarumma, the 26-year-old goalkeeper who joined Paris Saint-Germain in 2021 with a contract until 2026 (following the end of his contract at AC Milan), is at the heart of the rumors. His extension is not forthcoming and there is talk of a departure, with Lucas Chevalier (23, Lille and French national team) to replace him. Orazio Accomando, a journalist from Sportmediaset, claims this Saturday that Manchester City is positioning itself.
“Manchester City have inquired about Donnarumma. The English club wants to assess the feasibility of a possible agreement with PSG and the player’s entourage. City is preparing to part ways with Ederson, who has an agreement in principle with Galatasaray. Donnarumma’s entourage will meet with PSG just before the European Super Cup against Tottenham in Udine.”
A rather credible announcement, with a destination that could appeal to the Italian goalkeeper. As for Manchester City, Ederson’s departure seemed a bit blocked without a top-level replacement; the Donnarumma opportunity could change that.
Be careful, though, this is just a rumor for now. We need something concrete to be certain during the transfer window. But we’re expecting an intense battle for the Italian. The next few days promise to be intense. PSG can hope for a good sale despite the final year of his contract, especially with competition between the Premier League giants (Manchester United and Chelsea are mentioned) and Inter Milan.
