Lucas Chevalier, 23-year-old goalkeeper for Lille (contract until 2027) and the French national team, is reportedly close to Paris Saint-Germain in this transfer window to replace Gianluigi Donnarumma (26 years old, contract until 2026 and extension blocked). L’Equipe reported this Wednesday that PSG sent a second offer, without success. A situation that is reportedly causing tension among the Parisian management.

“Paris-Saint-Germain’s desire to bring in Lucas Chevalier (23) is just as strong. The contractual agreement with the goalkeeper is already in place. Paris has sent two verbal offers to LOSC since the start of talks, with both refusals. The last is for €40 million, including bonuses, while the Northerners are hoping for €40 million, excluding bonuses.
Lille management explained to the Parisians that an agreement could only be reached under several conditions: first, that Paris come close to meeting their financial demands – the two parties are really not far from an agreement – and then that a replacement be found.
Neither has been achieved yet, but Lille will not block their player. On the Parisian side, people are starting to get frustrated with the tone of the negotiations, without – yet – questioning a possible transfer.”
We’re obviously remaining cautious; there’s nothing concrete in this matter. There hasn’t been the slightest confirmation. Even though PSG’s interest seems to be there, we’ve already seen the transfer window surprise with a twist. The price has never been specifically announced either, nor has Paris’s offer. It’s therefore difficult to be certain.
However, we hope the media aren’t being so insistent. Negotiations may be ongoing, and difficult. Lille can’t part with Chevalier without a replacement and won’t give away the French national team’s current number 2. Just as PSG doesn’t want to simply shell out millions more. Unfortunately, we still need to be patient.
