This Friday, on Matchday 2 of Ligue 1 2025-2026, Paris Saint-Germain faced Angers at the Parc des Princes. After a match in which the Red and Blue outrageously dominated, they won 1-0. Here are our ratings for the Parisians.
Goalkeeper –
Lucas Chevalier (5.5) – A very quiet match for him.
Defenders –
Achraf Hakimi (5.5) – It wasn’t the best match for PSG’s full-backs. Still some minor physical lapses, but there was a strong will to do well.
Marquinhos (6) – Very focused, he played his game despite being constantly in danger.
Willian Pacho (6) – Like Marquinhos, this defensive duo is starting to really scare them. The reflexes are there. They’re becoming difficult to break.
Nuno Mendes (5.5) – Like Hakimi on the right, he struggled a little to make a difference. He wasn’t in danger, and we know his attacking contribution can still improve.
Midfielders –
Joao Neves (6.5) – For his return after a two-match suspension and the holidays, it’s pretty good. Physically, he’s there and on the pitch, he knows exactly what he needs to do. His constant harassment wears down the opponent. Replaced in the 66th minute by Warren Zaïre-Emery.
Vitinha (6) – Quiet (compared to his high standards), he still remains the team’s central figure, “the rhythm maker.” He likes to control the elements, and against Angers, he was able to play his way.
Fabian Ruiz (7) – We have to admit, Ruiz is more than a complementary player. He’s the brains of this team; his movements in the half-space are excellent. He scores, he’s there at the end of plays. He’s a very important player for PSG.
Forwards –
Bradley Barcola (5) – Another ‘passable’ match for the former Lyon player. He struggled against the deep block, but like the entire attack, there are still a few things missing to make everything run smoothly. Substituted in the 66th minute for Gonçalo Ramos.
Ousmane Dembélé (5.5) – A merely ‘okay’ match for him. He drops back a lot to make plays and is less in the penalty area. He also passes fewer dribbles. Physically, he still has work to do. Substituted for Lee Kang-in in the 81st minute.
Désiré Doué (5.5) – He’s still as ‘beautiful’ to watch, but also sometimes ‘irritating’. He can be stubborn. He still makes bad choices at times. He’s not in the form he was in the last Champions League final, and in those moments, it’s in his best interest to “simplify” things. Substituted in the 77th minute by Ibrahim Mbaye.
Coach –
Luis Enrique (6) – He knows his team isn’t at 100%. However, he has to be careful not to become too easy for his opponents. While he wants to be unpredictable, we still find a PSG that uses and abuses overly stereotypical play. His team’s play sometimes lacks verticality, long-range shooting, and imbalance. That said, his team wins, despite a more than truncated preparation.
