This Saturday, Paris Saint-Germain will play Arsenal in the 2025-2026 Champions League final at the Puskás Arena in Budapest (kick-off at 6 p.m. CET). If they win, the Parisians have planned to celebrate, first with impromptu festivities among the fans, and then with PSG for an official trophy presentation. Laurent Nuñez, the Minister of the Interior, gave details to Brut, relayed by Le Parisien, regarding the security measures in place. The Champs-Élysées will not be closed to pedestrians, although access has been significantly restricted.

“We expect large crowds in the capital, on the Champs-Élysées, and around the Parc des Princes as well.”

“On May 30th, the capital will be packed. Between Roland-Garros and three major concerts scheduled in the Paris region, the Ministry of the Interior has planned ‘a very significant deployment, with police officers and gendarmes,’ the minister explained. ‘A large security force will mobilize 22,000 people across the country, 8,000 of them in the Paris metropolitan area.’ This deployment aims primarily to ‘manage’ people in public spaces.

And if PSG wins, will it be possible to celebrate on the Champs-Élysées? ‘Yes, of course,’ the Minister of the Interior reassured. ‘And in other locations in the capital. If PSG wins, which we hope they will, we expect large crowds in the capital, on the Champs-Élysées, and around the Parc des Princes stadium as well.’

‘The trophy presentation will take place in the capital.’

In However, the Champs-Élysées will not be used the following day for a possible parade with the trophy. Will the trophy be presented at the Champ de Mars? Laurent Nuñez did not confirm. “There are several possibilities,” Nuñez explained. “The trophy presentation will take place in the capital. PSG and the police prefecture are working on this option.”

There should certainly be celebrations if PSG wins; it’s only natural to enjoy such an achievement. Winning the Champions League is never a given; you never know when you’ll play the next final. The key is to find a balance to avoid excesses and various incidents. Many people simply want to enjoy themselves, but unfortunately, a few lapses in control can lead to real problems.

The police are therefore preparing, with limits already set. Let’s hope that we can focus primarily on the celebration, with the trophy presentation expected to take place under good conditions.

Of course, we shouldn’t forget that everything must be done properly. First, PSG must win. That’s not a given yet.
