This Saturday, May 30th, Paris Saint-Germain will face Arsenal in the Champions League final in Budapest. Speaking to Téléfoot, Robert Pires, a 1998 World Cup winner, discussed the strengths and weaknesses of both teams.
Pires: “Mikel Arteta’s approach will be based on defense.”
“Defense is definitely their strong point. I’m thinking particularly of Saliba and Gabriel. It will be two completely different styles, with Luis Enrique’s all-out attacking style and Mikel Arteta’s defensive approach.”
Let’s hope we don’t have to endure a one-sided match where Arsenal are camped in their own half. The best way for PSG to avoid this scenario would be to score very early. When space opens up, the Parisian club is formidable, but it’s difficult to know how well they can break down a solid, compact defense. The Parisians will have to go for their feat no matter what against an Arsenal side that is 90 minutes away from winning its first Champions League.
