Lucas Beraldo, 21-year-old Paris Saint-Germain defender, was sidelined in the 2-0 victory against Lens in Matchday 4 of Ligue 1. He suffered a severe ankle injury during a duel. It was thought he would be out for several weeks. Initial tests have been reassuring, and football director Luis Campos even mentioned his availability as early as Wednesday against Atalanta (Matchday 1 of the Champions League). Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (24-year-old striker) is also in the mix.
“I hope Kvara and Beraldo will be available against Atlanta. We’re working to get them back as quickly as possible. The next 24 hours will be crucial for Kvara. He worked out in the pool yesterday to rest the muscle. I’m optimistic he’ll be back.”
There’s no certainty for both players, but at least there’s hope. This isn’t a surprise for Kvaratskhelia, who only suffered a knock (which could have been more serious). We hope he’ll be ready, even if it’s not a given.
It seems more crazy for Beraldo. The fact that there’s hope is already very positive, especially for the upcoming matches. It was a stroke of luck in this match that almost cost him dearly.
However, we’re still waiting for news from Lee Kang-In (24-year-old midfielder/forward), whose problem seemed far from clear when he went off. Let’s hope there won’t be any unpleasant surprises there, as the Korean didn’t seem to have anything serious.
