This Thursday, the women’s teams of Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich will face off at the Parc des Princes at 9 p.m. CET for Matchday 4 of the 2025-2026 Women’s Champions League. PSG coach Paulo César discussed the match in a press conference.
Paulo César: “Something is missing.”
“We clearly need results. (…) Even though our destiny is in our own hands, we need points, we need to win. So far, I’m happy with what the girls are doing; we’ve improved a lot, but I’m not going to hide it, and I think my players won’t hide it either: we need results.
When you don’t win in the end, something is missing. In every area, something is missing. We shouldn’t think it’s just the mental or physical aspect.” I think it’s a combination of things. There have been matches where we lacked clinical finishing, others where we weren’t in the right positions, others where we didn’t deliver the right crosses, the right passes, etc. We’re working on it, trying to address these shortcomings to perform well in every match,” he said, as reported by Le Parisien.
The Parisian coach can’t pretend otherwise; the situation isn’t ideal. PSG must win to maintain a real hope of qualifying. Having had some positive aspects in their play won’t be enough, even if they are significant. They need to build on them going forward, including tonight’s match. Now, they need to find that spark to fix the issues that make the difference.
Let’s hope the right formula is there, that there’s that little something extra in terms of efficiency to win. Nothing is easy, of course. This is the very highest level. This PSG team still has to learn, but doesn’t have much time left this season.
