Paris Saint-Germain defeated Brest 1-0 this Sunday at the Parc des Princes in Matchday 33 of the 2025-2026 Ligue 1 season. After the match, PSG coach Luis Enrique spoke at a press conference.
Luis Enrique: “I think we’re 99.9% champions.”
With this six-point lead over Lens, is the title secured?
“I think we needed these three points. I think we’re 99.9% champions. This allows us to prepare for the two league matches (Lens and Paris FC) in the best possible conditions and arrive in top form for the Champions League final on May 31st.”
Did Safonov have a problem being replaced by Renato Marin?
“No, there’s no problem. The best way to be ready is to play.” He did a good job, he was courageous.
Luis Enrique: “The goal is May 30th.”
Despite this league title, would a victory against Lens on Wednesday be symbolic?
“We have to acknowledge what Lens has done; they’ve been at an incredible level this season. It’s been difficult for us. The last two seasons have been much easier. We’re champions, but every time you play in the PSG jersey, you know what that means. The most important thing for me is to analyze all the data and the players’ form to arrive in the best possible condition against Lens and Paris FC. But the goal is May 30th.”
Luis Enrique: “We’re going to prepare some ‘mock’ matches.”
Did you celebrate this new title in the locker room?
“We’re still nursing a hangover from Munich (laughs). It was difficult to prepare for this match because our minds are still in Munich.” We must congratulate the Ultras who celebrated their 10th anniversary. We got the three points, but it’s not the time for celebrations, because the last and most important match of the season is still to come.
Will the thirteen days without playing before the Champions League final be beneficial?
“We’ll play the last match 15 days before the final, but we’ll prepare some practice matches the weekend before the final. I’ll make sure to alternate a little rest with important training sessions, a bit of both.”
Luis Enrique: “He has the physical and technical ability to be an important player in the team.”
Can Mayulu be an option on the right side of the defense?
“The first thing you need at PSG is the engine.” You have to be able to be number 9, number 8, number 6, number 2 all at the same time… You have to have the engine like Hakimi, Warren… Senny has it too. He has the physical and technical ability to be an important player on the team. I’m happy every time a young player does a good job.”
