On Wednesday evening, the Paris Saint-Germain and Eintracht Frankfurt women’s teams faced off at the PSG Campus in the return leg of the 2026-2027 Women’s Champions League preliminary round (following a 1-1 draw in the first leg). After PSG secured a 5-1 victory (1-1 in regulation, followed by extra time), Parisian forward Merveille Kanjinga (23), who scored twice, spoke to PSG TV.
Kanjinga: “That’s why we won.”
Was it a tough match?
It was really, very hard. But we didn’t give up. We kept going right to the end and won the match, with the supporters there cheering us on. They never tire; they keep giving us strength. That’s why we won.
Kanjinga: “We can celebrate now.”
An important win?
Yes, winning is essential. In matches like this, you have to show both collective and individual strengths. That’s what we work for.
How does it feel?
In the end, we’ve qualified—we’re proud, we’ve qualified. We can celebrate now (smiling).
