This Tuesday at 9:00 PM (CET), Paris Saint-Germain (1st) will face FC Barcelona (2nd) at the Parc des Princes, as part of the third matchday of the 2026-2027 Champions League. According to Ici Paris, 20,000 Parisian supporters are expected to be in the stands.
“a standard security setup for a match of this kind”
“The DNLH (National Division for Combating Hooliganism) had classified this encounter as a level 2 risk on a scale that goes up to 5. The police prefecture did not alter its security arrangements in light of the serious incidents that occurred on the fringes of the high school student protests.
Five squadrons of mobile gendarmes and riot police (CRS) have been deployed—a standard security setup for a match of this kind—with just over 2,000 Barcelona supporters expected to attend, along with the potential arrival of around twenty Catalan hooligans.
Inside the stadium, PSG has also deployed its usual contingent of security personnel, numbering between 1,100 and 1,300 staff tasked with maintaining safety within the venue.”
Such a large turnout is logical, given the capacity of the Parc des Princes and the quota established by UEFA. This will contribute to a fantastic football atmosphere—which is a great thing. Naturally, the Parisian fans will want to ensure that their voices are the ones heard most clearly; given their usual behavior at every match, there is little reason to worry.
Furthermore, it is hoped that the evening will unfold without any off-pitch incidents, leaving only the memory of high-quality football. There is some existing tension between the two clubs and their respective fan bases, so it is up to everyone to respect the boundaries. A police presence will also be on hand, though the match is not considered to be high-risk.
The context may have raised some questions, given that France is currently experiencing a period of unrest. However, the prevailing view is clearly that there will be no interference tonight—not least because security measures are already in place.
