Luis Enrique, coach of Paris Saint-Germain, held a press conference this Tuesday ahead of facing Flamengo at the Ahmad-ben-Ali Al Rayyan Stadium in Doha (Qatar) tomorrow (kick-off at 6pm, CET) in the final of the 2025 Intercontinental Cup. On the sidelines of this event, the Spaniard also spoke to PSG TV.
Luis Enrique: “We’re focused on continuing to make history in Paris.”
How are the players?
Good, we’re ready for this training session before the match. It’s a very special occasion; we know the stadium. I’m returning to Qatar, where we played in the World Cup with Spain. Those are great memories.
Would winning be the perfect end to the year?
It would be wonderful if we could win this trophy. There are few opportunities to play in this final. If I think about our team, only Lucas Hernandez has played in this match before. It’s a great moment; we’re focused on continuing to make history in Paris. It will be difficult, like every final, but we’re very motivated.
Luis Enrique: “A European team with Brazilian technical qualities.”
What kind of profile is Flamengo?
There are plenty of experienced players. Many have played in Europe. There’s a young, but very interesting, coach. We’ll see, we’ll analyze the last few months. They have quality both with and without the ball. They’re similar to a European team, but with Brazilian technical skill. It will be very difficult. It’s a final! We have to be focused and play at our best.
