Paris Saint-Germain won 2-0 against Lens this Sunday at the Parc des Princes in Matchday 4 of Ligue 1 2025-2026. After the match, Parisian coach Luis Enrique spoke at a press conference.
Enrique: “I hope we can overcome this.”
Can you give us an update on the injuries?
“I don’t know. We have to wait for the medical staff to do their tests; I don’t have any information at the moment.”
We can feel that the players’ bodies are suffering; does that worry you?
“It’s a bit of a difficult time, but we have to wait and see how the injuries play out. It’s our job to adapt to these events. I’m calm; I hope we can overcome this.”
Enrique: “For me, it’s important to have several versatile players.”
Do you plan to play Mbaye against Atalanta?
“I have several different options; this isn’t the time to say who will play. I have confidence in the whole team. For me, it’s important to have several versatile players. I can change a lot of players’ positions. We have to accept the situation and try to improve the team.”
You spent the first half in the stands. Why did you do that?
“My staff and I have been thinking about improving our performances for a long time. I also saw the rugby coaches watching the match from different perspectives. I like the opportunity to seek this improvement.
I wanted to be in the stands for the first half, and it’s wonderful. I can see everything, control everything. After that, you can give the perfect halftime talk because you have all the information. It’s very positive. Afterwards, I watched the second half as usual.”
Enrique: “With young players, you need confidence and maturity.”
Will you be talking a little more with the young players who will be called upon in the coming days?
“Yes, with young players, you need confidence and maturity. We’ve given confidence to several young players, but it all has to come naturally. You can’t put pressure on them; it’s counterproductive.”
What role could Barcola play in the absence of Dembélé, Doué, and Kvaratskhelia?
“The same role as usual. Bradley Barcola is a very important player. He’s a different player with a lot of quality. He played at a very high level last season, and we’re very happy.”
