Paris Saint-Germain defeated RC Lens this Sunday evening at the Parc des Princes (2-0, see the video recap), in Matchday 4 of Ligue 1. But after the match, it was the tribute to Parisian soldier Presnel Kimpembe that captured everyone’s attention. Pierre Sage, coach of the Sang et Or, spoke to beIN SPORTS to discuss his team’s defeat and the tribute paid to Presnel Kimpembe.
Sage: “It’s great that the club respects everything the player has done here”
We’re in the middle of the tribute to Kimpembe; he’s someone who has made his mark on PSG’s history. What’s your take on his career?
I think it’s great that the club respects everything the player has done here. He had a difficult end to his career here with his injuries, but he always maintained his faith and commitment. He always supported the team in the great results they achieved last year.
Did you have better things to do today?
In this kind of match, we have opportunities to make a difference, but unfortunately we handled them poorly today. God knows there have been some, but that’s also the story of our journey; we learn from each match and build ourselves as a team. There may have been an opportunity to do better; we wanted to be more competitive and be more focused on the result, and not concede that goal at the start of the second half.
