On Wednesday, April 8th and Tuesday, April 14th, Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool will face off in the quarterfinals of the 2025-2026 Champions League. Before these matches at the Parc des Princes and Anfield, and after the international break, we offer an update on the injuries on both sides. The good news is mostly for PSG.

PSG –

A rare and particularly welcome development, PSG has no additional injuries to report following the international break. There was a scare for Marquinhos (central defender and captain), who was ruled out of the Brazil/France match last Thursday, but he was able to start against Croatia on Tuesday night without any apparent issues.

So, the injury list currently includes four players, two of whom could be available very soon. Fabian Ruiz (29-year-old midfielder) and Senny Mayulu (19-year-old midfielder) appeared in a video released by PSG on Monday evening, working with the ball on the pitch. They could rejoin the squad soon, perhaps as early as this Friday against Toulouse (Ligue 1 Matchday 28). However, it seems a bit too soon for Ruiz, who has been sidelined with a knee injury since January 20th. Mayulu suffered a calf strain just before the winter break, so a quick return is more likely.

Quentin Ndjantou (18-year-old midfielder) and Bradley Barcola (23-year-old forward) were still training indoors on Monday, and their availability for the first leg of the quarter-final doesn’t seem possible. There’s still hope for the second leg, especially for Barcola, who suffered a sprained ankle on March 18th against Chelsea. Ndjantou, who injured his muscle on December 20th, underwent surgery and should have a more gradual return. It will be difficult to come back after such a tough match.

Liverpool –

The Reds will not have a full squad, that much is certain. Geovanni Leoni (19-year-old defender) suffered a cruciate ligament rupture in his first match and is expected back next season. Conord Bradley (22-year-old right-back) also saw his season cut short in January due to a knee injury.

Wataru Endo (33-year-old midfielder), nursing an ankle injury, will return sooner, with a comeback hoped for at the end of May, but that’s far too late for this match. Another significant concern is Alisson Becker (33-year-old goalkeeper), who is highly doubtful due to a muscle injury sustained just before the international break. And the latest bad news came during the break itself, as Jeremie Frimpong (25-year-old right-back) was forced off with an injury during the match between the Netherlands and Ecuador. This is yet another setback for the player, who has been sidelined for several matches and risks missing the game against PSG.

There is some good news for Liverpool, both in attack. Mohamed Salah (33-year-old forward), injured shortly before the international break, should return this weekend and therefore be ready to face PSG. Alexander Isak (26-year-old striker), who suffered a fractured fibula in December, is reportedly very close to returning. Nothing is certain yet.
