On Saturday, during Matchday 32 of the 2025-2026 Ligue 1 season, Paris Saint-Germain (1st) will face Lorient (9th) at the Parc des Princes (kick-off at 5 pm, CET). On the eve of this match, PSG coach Luis Enrique answered several questions at a press conference.
Luis Enrique: “We need to analyze and see the best option.”
Last year you made ten changes after the first leg of the Champions League semi-final—are you in the same mindset against Lorient?
“Every match is different, every match has its own difficulties. This time we need to win the three points. We need to analyze and see the best option.”
Could rotation affect the goalkeeper position?
“It’s a different position, but I’ve always done things differently with goalkeepers. At Barcelona, I used to let them play seven matches each before choosing the starter. I’m open to making changes.”
Luis Enrique: “I don’t want to give any information to Lorient or Bayern Munich.”
Isn’t there some risk in starting Safonov, knowing that Chevalier is already injured?
“We have to wait until tomorrow. I don’t want to give any information to Lorient or Bayern Munich. All options are possible.”
The match was physically and mentally exhausting—how do you prevent the players from already looking ahead to Munich?
“When you look at the match, it was spectacular, but it wasn’t the most physically intense match of the season. I think the emotions, however, are different. You feel more tired because of all those things you can’t control.”
You’ve used Warren Zaïre-Emery 19 times as a right winger—what are his qualities in that role?
“I think we’ve shown the team’s ability to overcome injuries to important players. That’s very important for winning trophies. More than talking about Warren—a very young player with a lot of experience—it’s the whole team that can step up.”
Are you satisfied with Fabian Ruiz’s return?
“Of course, Fabian is an incredible player, very important for us. Every time a player comes back from injury, it’s always good news. He played part of the match on Tuesday and will take advantage of tomorrow to play more.”
Luis Enrique: “Having a player like him is like having three players.”
Do we know how long Achraf Hakimi will be unavailable? What can you tell us about his level?
“He’s an incredible player, always at 100%. Having a player like him is like having three players. But unfortunately, he won’t be in Munich. But we’re calm because we have options. As for how long he’ll be out, I don’t want to give any information.”
Are you proud or disappointed with Tuesday’s match, after leading 5–2?
“I can’t be frustrated. It’s a unique football match. When I analyzed the match, I spent five hours—usually I spend three. There were some absolutely incredible actions from Bayern Munich. It was spectacular because the attackers got the better of the defenses—not because of defensive mistakes, but because of the quality of the attackers. That’s what makes this match beautiful. The level was incredible. Watch the match again and look at how Dembélé and Harry Kane defend. You just have to congratulate both teams.”
Luis Enrique: “I’m just very happy to have won a match against Bayern Munich.”
What made the match so fantastic?
“I think it’s the team that offered the most against us. It’s the strongest opponent I’ve faced. I’m just very happy to have won a match against Bayern Munich. We could have drawn or lost—it was that close. It comes down to tiny details—that’s what it will be decided on.”
