Paris Saint-Germain defeated Metz 3-0 this Saturday at the Parc des Princes in Matchday 23 of the 2025-2026 Ligue 1 season. After the match, PSG defender Lucas Hernandez (30 years old) was asked in the mixed zone to comment on Dro Fernandez’s first start for PSG (the 18-year-old midfielder arrived from FC Barcelona this winter).

Hernandez: “He’s a great player for the future.”

“He’s a young player, like many on this team. He brings a lot of composure and confidence. We gave him a fantastic welcome, and he’s growing in confidence. We hope he continues like this because he’s a player who can give us a lot.

Before the match, we mainly told him to do what he knows how to do. He’s a young player with a lot of talent. Technically, he’s very strong. We told him to play like he does in training, comfortably and calmly. It showed: he had a very good match. He’s a great player for the future,” these comments were reported by Le Figaro.

It’s clear that Dro Fernandez has integrated well into the team; everyone seems ready to help and encourage him going forward. He’s already shown some very promising signs, both in terms of technical ability and vision. He’s done this with a certain ease in the Parisian style of play, a sign of a rapid adaptation. Even if everything isn’t perfect, obviously. Some automatic reflexes still need to be worked out.

Also, unsurprisingly, the 18-year-old showed some limitations in duels. This is part of learning at the highest level and the normal physical work at this age. Especially for a La Liga player arriving in Ligue 1, we’ve already seen that the first few months can be difficult. A little patience is needed, and Dro needs time to develop. As Hernandez points out, he’s here “for the future.” But the present is already promising.
