Lucas Hernandez, the 30-year-old Paris Saint-Germain defender, spoke to Ligue1+ after PSG’s 1–2 defeat to Monaco this Friday at the Parc des Princes during Matchday 3 of the 2026–2027 Ligue 1 season.
Hernandez: “We need to get up to speed as quickly as possible.”
A huge disappointment; there have already been discussions in the dressing room. Four games without a win—is that rare?
As you said, it is rare. But it’s also part of football. For the international players, it’s true we didn’t have a long break; we certainly need to get up to speed as quickly as possible. That’s four games without a win, and we thrive on victories.
It was tough tonight because we had the chances and did what was required, but we’ve struggled to beat Monaco lately. We have to take the positives and move forward to Wednesday’s match—it’s the Champions League, a different competition—and we’ll need to show up in better form.
Hernandez: “I have confidence in this team and this coach.”
Does the attack feel less fluid? What could provide that spark?
I think we’re on the right track. A lot of players left and many new ones arrived, so it’s up to us to put them in the best possible position to adapt. It’s not an easy system because it requires a lot of movement, but I have confidence in this team and this coach. Even though the start of the season isn’t going quite as we’d like, we can see things falling into place—though, ultimately, the result is what matters most.
