This Sunday, February 8th, to close out Matchday 21 of Ligue 1 2025-2026 (kick-off 8:45 PM, CET), Paris Saint-Germain (1st) hosts Olympique de Marseille (3rd) at the Parc des Princes. The Collectif Ultras Paris had called for the presence of Marseille supporters for this match. Today, RMC Sport reports that this will remain without response or success.

“It’s no longer possible to deploy so many forces at Ligue 1 matches.”

This Sunday, the league clash between PSG and Olympique de Marseille will take place, once again, without away fans. Authorities have classified this match as high-risk. All sources contacted confirm that the possibility of allowing away fans into the stadium for these two league matches is still a long way off.

The police presence around this match, still being finalized, is expected to be substantial. “We are in a situation where OM supporters will not be present,” a police source from the Paris Police Prefecture confided. “With the presence of Marseille supporters, this deployment would have been much larger, but it’s no longer possible to deploy so many forces at Ligue 1 matches.” “As soon as the opportunity arises, public order disturbances are observed,” adds this police source.

This is sad news, both for the atmosphere and for the Marseille fans. But also for the Parisians, who want to fully experience this clash. This implies the presence of their opponents. We can also already guess that travel to the Vélodrome will be prohibited for the time being. Beyond this Sunday’s match, it’s clear that there are no plans to change the situation anytime soon. There isn’t even talk of dialogue, despite the appeal launched by the PSG Ultras.

This isn’t incomprehensible either, given the existing rivalry and the incidents that have occurred in the past. However, it also stifles any possibility of progress and improvement. This complete deadlock between the different parties is a real problem. The Parisian supporters have extended an olive branch; it’s sad if it goes unanswered.

Especially since Ligue 1 is using footage of Marseille supporters chanting throughout the Stade Jean Bouin. against Paris FC, following their travel ban.

When Jean-Bouin transforms into a mini Vélodrome… at least until the 94th minute 😅

This is sure to fuel tensions, with the League highlighting the contribution of away fans while also pointing out the flaw in a travel ban (some still come to the stadium and aren’t supervised).
