On Monday, Paris Saint-Germain faced Paris FC in the Round of 32 of the Coupe de France (0-1). Following the match, Luis Enrique, the capital club’s coach, spoke to PSG TV.

Enrique: “Results in football are sometimes unfair.”

“Disappointed with the result, and not to have scored, but as for the match itself, I think it was a very high-level game. We were superior, we created a lot of chances. In the first half, we did a very good counter-press.

I think it was a very complete match. I’m disappointed with the result because we didn’t score. Against Lille, I would gladly accept a performance like today’s, but results in football are sometimes unfair, and I think it’s very clear that we didn’t deserve this result tonight.”

After their victory in the Trophée des Champions against Olympique de Marseille, PSG stumbled against Paris FC and were eliminated in the Round of 32 of the Coupe de France. Despite a match dominated by the Parisians, who created numerous chances, they failed to convert them.

Unfortunately, in these kinds of matches, when you fail to capitalize, there’s always the risk of a counter-attack or an opponent’s attack that will punish you. Ironically, that’s exactly what happened, with Ikoné, a product of the club’s youth academy and often criticized for his lack of finishing, being the one to score.

The capital club can now consider their domestic treble a triumph of last season complete and focus on the two remaining competitions: the league and the Champions League.
