Luis Enrique, coach of Paris Saint-Germain (2nd), held a press conference this Sunday ahead of facing Paris FC (14th) at the Parc des Princes tomorrow (kick-off at 8:45 pm, CET) as part of the 17th matchday of Ligue 1 2025-2026. On the sidelines of this event, the Spaniard also spoke to PSG TV.
Luis Enrique: “Everyone was saying we weren’t playing well, that we had problems.”
How was the return to training and the rest period?
After the rest, which we needed, we were able to have four training sessions, and I can say it’s a real pleasure to see the players again, their ability to manage training and enjoy themselves. We’re very happy; it’s also our return to the Parc des Princes tomorrow. It will be a derby, and we’re very happy to be back.
What do you want to see from your players in 2026?
I think what we’ve done over the last two years is now a continuation. Last season, everyone was saying we weren’t playing well, that we had problems. But we didn’t get results, even though we were playing very well. The team was performing, but not getting the results.
Luis Enrique: “We’re in a very good moment; I’m proud of my players.”
After that, we rediscovered our effectiveness by playing the same way. Now we’re approaching the most important part, where we win all the trophies. We’re in a great moment, I’m proud of my players. They’re really enjoying their job, it’s a real pleasure to see them.
Tomorrow’s victory is particularly important; do we also need to keep pace with RC Lens?
It’s also about the players’ confidence; after a rest, we need to get a win as soon as possible. It’s also a derby, the first in Ligue 1. It will be difficult, the motivation will be high. But we’re delighted to be playing this match. It’s important for the city. I hope we can play against them for many years to come.
