As part of Matchday 15 of Ligue 1, Paris Saint-Germain hosted Stade Rennais and won 5–0 at the Parc des Princes. Before the match, Luis Enrique, the coach of the capital club, spoke to PSG TV to discuss the victory and the PSG Foundation, whose children were invited to the stadium.
Enrique: “I’m very happy because we were efficient.”
“It’s a fine victory, without a doubt. We’re very happy. I think we deserved the win, but Rennes played very well and didn’t deserve this scoreline. For me, it’s a big difference on the scoreboard, but at the same time I’m very happy because we were efficient, and that’s important for us.
Congratulations to the club because this Foundation is very important. This is what we want for the children—trying to give them more opportunities. I think this club is very special on a sporting level, but also through this Foundation. It’s wonderful for the children and for the club, and I think it’s very important.”
After Monaco and Olympique de Marseille both lost, it was essential for PSG to win in order to close the small gap that had formed. This strong and convincing victory once again shows the superiority of the Parisian side despite a still-depleted squad.
The end of the first half of the season is approaching, and despite difficult matches earlier in the campaign, Luis Enrique’s men have always managed to bounce back and remain on the podium. This comes with promising individual and collective performances for the rest of the season.
Little by little, PSG will recover their full squad, and it’s in these conditions that they will be able to accelerate and reach their goals.
It’s also nice to see the Foundation’s work being highlighted. We know the media tends to focus more on players’ salaries, and it’s a shame that these great initiatives aren’t mentioned more often. They are very important to coach Luis Enrique.
