Warren Zaïre-Emery, 19-year-old Paris Saint-Germain midfielder, spoke to Ligue 1+ after the 3-3 draw against Strasbourg this Friday at the Parc des Princes as part of Matchday 8 of Ligue 1 2025-2026.
Zaïre-Emery: “It shows the character of this team.”
How did you feel about the evening?
We knew it was a tough match against Strasbourg, a young team that puts a lot of pressure and intensity in their duels. Now, we were down 3-1 and we were able to come back, which shows the character of this team. It shows our strength, and the players who came on made good appearances. We were able to come back.
How did you feel?
Well, now we haven’t won, so it’s more complicated. I didn’t have a bad match, I feel better and better. There are always things to improve, and I feel good, and I’m regaining confidence, and above all, the carefree attitude to play and enjoy myself.
Zaïre-Emery: “It’s more about the intensity in the duels.”
Is the armband a pride?
Yes, always, always. It’s not my thing. I don’t like to show off, I’m not the one who talks the most, but always. And if the coach puts me on, I’ll know how to represent the team. I’ll know how to show off and encourage everyone.
Was it the pressure that bothered you in the first half?
No, I wouldn’t say the pressure. We were able to break out of it many times and create openings, but it was more about the intensity in the duels, and we lost a lot of duels, and that’s what allowed them to have space at the back, to play one-on-one.
Zaire-Emery: “It’s just perfect.”
How will you manage the rest of the season with so much traveling?
That’s us, and the coach, it’s just perfect. He has a lot of turnover, and we’re always there, we’re providing treatment, we’re recovering well. There are a lot of matches, and we’ll have to be ready and succeed in winning them all.
