On Wednesday evening at the Parc des Princes, Paris Saint-Germain hosted Tottenham for Matchday 5 of the 2025-26 Champions League. And despite a relatively porous defense, the Parisians won 5-3, led by a brilliant performance from Vitinha. PSG captain Marquinhos spoke to Canal+ about the victory:
Marquinhos: “It was a special night for me, I really wanted to win.”
Is this a great way to celebrate your 500th appearance?
It’s a good way, but as a defender, I wanted to concede fewer goals. I think the team was focused, and Tottenham prepared well for this match and exploited our weaknesses. I think the team stayed in the game, and it was a special night for me. I was talking about it in the locker room, and I really wanted to win.
What did you like?
The attitude was there, the team was fully committed. We know that on Champions League nights you always have to give 100%. We were there, and Tottenham made good use of counter-attacks, crosses to the far post, and one-on-ones. But we have a team that never gives up, we already showed that last year, and it’s a good mindset that the team has and that the coach is instilling in us more and more. The season is long; we really need to win points to qualify properly.
