Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, President of Paris Saint-Germain, spoke to C à vous. In particular, he spoke of the essential point at PSG today, “DNA”. He also took the opportunity to thank France for its support.
Al-Khelaïfi “The club”s DNA is the collective: PSG is the most important.”
“The club’s DNA is the collective: PSG is the most important thing. We have a lot of stars in the team, but today, the superstar is the team. We have 23 soldiers, a magnificent coach and a great staff. I want to stay as long as possible.
Al-Khelaïfi “I wanted to thank all of France.”
I wanted to thank all of France for being behind us. I thank Macron for his words, his speech which touched me and the players.”
There’s no better way to sum up PSG’s philosophy today, with the club and the team above all else. It’s out of the question for a player to think of himself first. It worked perfectly this season, and we can only hope it continues.
It’s not such a simple balance to strike, since players retain the right to want to exist, with things they particularly enjoy doing on the soccer pitch (a passion above all) and perhaps certain objectives. But you have to know how to make the effort for the collective, and put the team’s success first. It’s a mindset that has been put in place by management and coach Luis Enrique.
This team, full of energy and armed with this collective mentality, has won a little more support and sympathy from soccer lovers in France. Without necessarily turning them into fans, that’s not necessary. But this enthusiasm was of course appreciable. It’s a great victory for French soccer.
