The Spaniard was delighted with his side’s success, and made a point of mentioning Tuesday’s Champions League Round of 8 second leg against Liverpool, following their 0-1 defeat in the first leg.

Is there anyone in the infirmary?
I think the game showed that all the players are fine. The result is excellent against a team that gave us a lot of trouble. We’ve achieved our objective.
What did you expect from your players today, when everyone is talking about Liverpool?
I think the team is very competitive, we attack the pitch to win. We had the right temperament.
Luis Enrique: “We tried to balance things out”.
Did you bring in some players to get a bit of a dynamic going into Tuesday’s game?
It’s all about balance. If you play 80 minutes 3 days before the Liverpool match, it’s not necessarily advisable, although that was the case for Pacho. For the others, we tried to balance things out. We had to win the match in Ligue 1 and we managed it as well as we could. Playing every 3 days is a good thing too, it gives the players a good feeling.
Is your team in good spirits?
There’s no doubt about it, and playing against Rennes is a very good team with a great dynamic that made things difficult for us. In fact, even more than some of the teams in the Champions League. We’re very, very good at recovering the ball with our positioning and extremely fast players, so it’s a wonderful result.

Where would you place Doué?
He’s one of the young players who has very, very good things to do. He’s going to grow at PSG, he’s got a very positive mentality, he’s part of the team, and that’s a pleasure for a coach.
How will you prepare for the Liverpool game?
The first leg leaves us no option but to win. That’s the objective, and nothing will change compared with the other games. We play to win. The only team that has no doubts about that is us.
