In the opening match of Ligue 1’s 22nd round, Paris Saint-Germain traveled to face Stade Rennais and lost 3-1. Ousmane Dembélé, the 28-year-old striker who scored the only goal for PSG, spoke to PSG TV about the defeat.
Dembélé: “Rennes deserved their victory”
“First, we need to put the team first. We missed a lot of chances. We could have come back. I also think Rennes deserved their win. Yes, we’re going to Monaco for the playoffs. We know it won’t be easy. We lost there, so we’ll do everything we can to win.”
This defeat is a blow for PSG, who were euphoric and confident after last Sunday’s 5-0 victory against Olympique de Marseille. They now need to focus on preparing for their first match against AS Monaco this Tuesday. The Champions League remains PSG’s primary objective, as the defending champions, and naturally, this begins with a victory in the playoff. This Parisian team has shown many weaknesses, but also many strengths this season. They will therefore need to be at 100% to tip the scales in their favor and continue their European journey.
