Since the 2024–2025 season, Fabián Ruiz (29), Vitinha (25), and João Neves (21) have learned to form a top-class midfield trio at Paris Saint-Germain. In an interview with So Foot, the Spanish midfielder spoke about the qualities of his two teammates.
Ruiz: “They’re complete players”
“They’re very young, but you wouldn’t know it. It feels like they’ve been playing at this level for twenty years. They never get tired of running, pressing, and constantly moving. When you have to mark them, they’re really annoying to deal with.
Viti and João don’t know fear. They’re complete players, with a great shot. They’re going to bring a lot to PSG. Their careers are only just beginning — they’re going to keep improving.”
Indeed, Vitinha and Neves never show fear in their play — regardless of the opponent, the stakes, or the flow of the game. We saw it again against FC Barcelona, when Vitinha misplaced a pass that led to the opening goal, only to then take control of the match and dictate the tempo.
Both players bring tremendous mobility: Vitinha operates deeper, just ahead of the defense, while Neves pushes higher into attacking areas. Fabián Ruiz, slightly less explosive, acts as the balancing force, excelling through his reading of the game.
Together, they form a highly effective, intelligent trio, whose chemistry continues to grow — and whose best days are surely still ahead, especially for the younger Portuguese pair. déjà redoutable, qui semble promis à encore de très belles choses.
