Paris Saint-Germain’s 28-year-old defender Lucas Hernandez spoke to DAZN after the 1-6 victory over AS Saint-Étienne on Saturday at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard as part of Matchday 27 of Ligue 1 2024-2025. He spoke of the difficult victory, which was then well deserved, and of tonight’s possible championship title.
Hernandez “Any player on the pitch responds.”
How did you feel about the match?
For the first 20-25 minutes, we struggled to get into the game. I also think that Saint-Étienne started the game well. They made things difficult for us, and we didn’t have a reference point. The coach spoke to us at half-time and gave us a couple of instructions. We managed to make the difference, and the most important thing is to get on with it.
How do you deal with this succession of games on a day-to-day basis?
The coach is handling it really well. We’ve got a super-strong squad and every player is there to be a starter at all times. Every player on the pitch is there. That’s what makes this team so strong.
Hernandez “He deserves everything we’re doing today.”
Will you be watching the game to find out if you’re champions?
We’ll be watching the result when we get off the plane (smile). We’re hoping to be champions, we’re having an incredible season. But if it’s not tonight, we hope it’ll be next weekend.
Have you spoken to your longest-serving president in the club’s history?
Yes, of course, we’re all very happy to have the president we have. He deserves everything we’re doing right now. We’re going to win a lot of titles this season.
