On Monday evening, Paris Saint-Germain won 0-2 (video highlights Seattle Sounders/PSG) against the Seattle Sounders on Matchday 3 of the 2025 Club World Cup group stage at Lumen Field. We take a look at some of the highlights and lowlights of the victory.
Tops –
Achraf Hakimi
The Moroccan full-back once again proved his worth by doubling the lead after a lightning counter-attack, concluding a performance full of energy and attacking accuracy. His incessant activity on the right flank enabled PSG to maintain constant pressure on the Seattle defense.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia
The Georgian winger opened the scoring with a shot from Vitinha that he deflected with his back. His dribbling and ability to create chances constantly troubled the opposing defense. He confirms his status as a dynamo in Luis Enrique’s system.
Bradley Barcola
A starter, he energized the Parisian attack, providing a decisive pass to Hakimi and taking the initiative on numerous occasions. His immediate impact was decisive in breaking down an already physically-challenged Seattle side. Decisive pass for Hakimi’s goal.
Flops –
Physical context
In the sweltering heat and after a long journey, many of the Parisians looked blunted in the second half, with intensity dropping sharply after the hour mark. This fatigue was felt in the duels, which were often won by Seattle (51 vs. 45 for Paris).
Senny Mayulu
Lining up at the apex of the attack, he suffered against the ruggedness of the American defenders, struggling to make his presence felt in duels and creating just one real chance.
A lack of attacking edge at the end of the match
Despite having the lion’s share of possession (72%), the Parisians were sometimes ineffective in the zone of truth, content to manage without trying to add to the scoreline against an outmatched opponent.
