On Monday, as part of Matchday 3 of the 2025 Club World Cup group stage, Paris Saint-Germain took on the Seattle Sounders at Lumen Field. In this match, the Rouge et Bleu largely dominated a rather weak team, winning 0-2 (video highlights Seattle Sounders/PSG). Here are our notes on the Parisians.
Goalkeeper –
Gianluigi Donnarumma (5) – Little to do in the first half, but a big scare. Nothing more in the second.
Defenders –
Achraf Hakimi (7) – On form, but his first half was fairly neutral. His second half was much better. He even found the back of the net in a match that lacked any real tension.
Marquinhos (6) – A decent first half. Second half
Willian Pacho (6) – Didn’t do much in the first half. Like Marquinhos, there was no drama in this match.
Nuno Mendes (6) – We saw him quite low, then quite high, but he didn’t have the chance to really express his attacking qualities.
Midfielders –
João Neves (6) – Didn’t play his best in the first half. Must be starting to feel the long season in his legs. Replaced by Warren Zaïre-Emery in the 64th minute.
Vitinha (6.5) – Still the key man in midfield, he was responsible for the Parisian goal and for the finish, even if his shot was wide of the target. He didn’t have his best game of the year, but neither did PSG.
Fabian Ruiz (6) – Mobile, available, but also a little out of sorts like his partners in the first half. Better in the second half when space opened up.
Forwards –
Désiré Doué (6.5) – Showed his talent on the ball in the first half. However, he was not very inspired. Better in the second half, with more impact, he set up Paris’ second goal with a fine pass to Bradley Barcola, who just had to give it to Hakimi. His second half was far more interesting. Replaced in the 83rd minute by Ibrahim Mbaye.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (6) – Energy, but no magic. Had an average game, but that’s no scandal. Replaced by Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in the 64th minute.
Senny Mayulu (5) – Lost as number 9, he struggled with this role in this match. He tried to put on a good show, but he’s better when he’s on the ball. Replaced in the 77th minute by Gonçalo Ramos.
Coach –
Luis Enrique (6) – He’s trying to keep the dream alive with this team that has great qualities, but it feels like June after a long season.
