Ibrahim Mbaye, the 18-year-old Paris Saint-Germain winger, is with Senegal for the March international break. In a press conference following his team’s 2-0 victory against Peru, his coach, Pape Thiaw, was full of praise for the young Parisian.
“His potential for improvement is enormous. He’s already won many trophies. At 17, I was playing in the Gambardella Cup. He’s a phenomenon who’s at an excellent club with a very good coach. Tonight, he was good. But he needs to improve.”
If he manages to shine and get playing time with his national team, it’s certainly a very positive sign for the young Parisian. Regularly used at club level by Luis Enrique, Ibrahim Mbaye is gradually trying to earn his place in the squad. At only 18 years old, he obviously still has everything to learn.
But overall, the confidence shown by his national team coach, as well as his PSG coach, is a very positive sign. He now needs to work hard to improve and gradually earn even more playing time.
