Paris Saint-Germain beat Stade Briochin 0-7 (video highlights Stade Briochin/PSG) this Wednesday at Roazhon Park in the quarter-finals of the Coupe de France 2024-2025. After the match, Paris coach Luis Enrique spoke to beIN SPORTS. The Spaniard emphasized how happy he was with his squad, and how ambitious they were. Without forgetting to defend French soccer.

Luis Enrique “I’m delighted that we have so many options and players who want to pull on the shirt.”

What was your reaction this evening?

Perfect because we’ve achieved our objectives and got into the semi-finals. We were able to rest certain players and give priority to others. I think it was a perfect evening of soccer, with a great atmosphere, and I’d like to congratulate Stade Briochin.

You must be very proud of your group, especially with this team starting off so well, and the turnover is working very well?

Yes, that’s our objective as a team. I’m delighted that we have so many possibilities and players who want to pull on the shirt. I think that since the start of the season, the team has responded and we’re continuing to make progress, which is fantastic.

Luis Enrique “We want to be there and meet those expectations.”

One of the best teams in Europe? How much room for improvement is there?

Every game has room for improvement. We never play the same way, we’re at the beginning of a project and the players are extremely young. We’re going to keep climbing the steps and it’s starting to pay off, as we can see from the statistics and the way we’re playing in this championship. We’ve overcome our difficulties and there’s no limit to what we can do – the sky’s the limit, as they say. We want to be there and live up to those expectations.

7-0 against Brest, then against Stade Briochin and again against Lille and Liverpool?

I hope so (laughs). The last three games, 17 goals isn’t bad at all. There are a few critics who make me laugh now. We’re going to keep getting better and stronger and go all the way. We’re not going to get scared and give up.

Luis Enrique “We’re going to give them a tough time.”

What do you expect from the Champions League?

If you look at Liverpool, it’s a year of transition. They’re one of the best teams in Europe in terms of results, but I think we’re going to be in the competition. We’re going to give them a tough time.

What do you think of the amateur soccer you see here?

I think French soccer gets a lot of bad press. I see a very, very, very, very high level. Of course we’re the PSG at the moment, but there are some very, very strong teams and that reflects the level of French soccer. That’s the lesson to be drawn from all this.
