Trained at Stade Rennais, which he left for Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2024, 19-year-old midfielder Désiré Doué has impressed in recent months for the Rouge et Bleu. Julien Stéphan, his former coach at the Breton club, spoke to “Le club des 5” about the French international’s personality.
Stéphan “a fierce will to work every day to progress”.
“He’s the epitome of ambition. He’s very ambitious. He puts all the means he needs to assume that ambition. He’s a great professional, and nothing is left to chance. He’s got a great work ethic and a fierce determination to work hard every day to make progress. A lot of respect, a lot of listening. Very good education. He’ll end up in the heart of the game.”
Stéphan “He’s got great technique and athleticism”.
“He’s very well-rounded and has top-level technique under pressure. He has a personality that allows him to take responsibility on the pitch, he never hides. He’s got tremendous technique and athleticism. It’s out of the ordinary, it’s powerful, it’s strong, it repeats efforts. It’s also very complete athletically. Very strong dribbling and elimination skills. Where he’s going to improve a lot, I think, is on the cold side, so he can finish things off even better. That’s still his small margin. But he’s only 19 in 2005.
