The 2025 summer mercato is now open in France until 8pm on September 1, so the rumors surrounding Paris Saint-Germain are piling up. This time, PSG Inside Actus has confirmed that Yusuf Akçiçek, the 19-year-old central defender from Fenerbahçe (contract runs until 2028) and Turkey, is a Parisian target, while the rumor mill is cooling down on Tomás Araujo (23, Portugal and Benfica).
“While Tomas Araujo (Benfica) was a serious possibility for Paris Saint-Germain, discussions have not progressed as hoped. The player is now being approached by several Premier League clubs, which complicates matters.
As a result, PSG are starting to look at an alternative: Yusuf Akçiçek. The young talent appeals to Parisian scouts, who see in him a promising and more accessible profile. The file remains open. However, Paris has not given up on T. Araújo.“
With clubs already reportedly in talks for 3 PSG players (Nordi Mukiele, Milan Skriniar and Marco Asensio), it’s easy to see Akçiçek being drawn into the discussions. That’s if the interest really exists, which is by no means certain. And an agreement even less so.
But Akçiçek is a young talent, who didn’t get his first caps by chance. He’s undoubtedly a player to watch, with his 1m93 height, which is an asset in the air, and of course other qualities. He could be an interesting bet for the future. But there may be other avenues open to us, for every game. So we’ll have to wait and see.
